All this talk of buying new boat kits got to me, so I went in and had a wee look at what was on offer on Ebay, You can get the Titanic (all 100 issues)for 500 bucks 'Buy it Now'..no thank you!!. So after looking through the whole list, no ship jumped out at me!!
So I went onto the model train (OO) site, and unfortunately one did jump out  at me!!. Brand new Hornby 'weathered' class 31 A1A-A1A diesel loco.(31272) (I bought the 'Toffee Apple' version a while ago, for those in the know..no headcode panels, brand new off Ebay for 100 "B it N", so this one was even cheaper!!
The 'BR Blue' era is not for me, but the price was right at 95 + 9 for postage!! Australian retail is 299.95,(ridiculous!!) so that's a wopping saving for sure!! I will re-paint this loco back to BR green and convert it back to it's original configuration and add a BR number of my choice for this class of loco...later down the track..so to speak!!...Dave

Wow what a saving, things are way overpriced in Australia. Sad

It's all those loonies putting on their massive markups. Sad

Seems that way Anthony, I wasn't really looking for something to buy, but let's face it, when there's a bargain to be had, well, if you can, you have to go for it, and it's another loco to add to the collection!!.....
By the way, I mentioned the Titanic, well, there was a 1/60th Endeavour kit up for auction as well, I fear that might get a bit on the expensive side as there are a few bidders, and it also has a few days to run. It's also quite an old kit, so it could be a bit of a collectors item...Dave

Been through Ebay again...... just looking..cough cough... and the same loco appears a 'few times', the most expensive at 277 + postage, and the cheapest at 135+postage, so I got a bargain for sure, with a capital B...just hope it goes!!
I've gone through about 50 pages of train stuff today (got an 'eadache!!) and it's absolutely amazing what some individuals and dealers alike are asking for British stuff, daylight robbery!!, folks are daft if they pay these inflated prices!!, it's no wonder I choose to buy new from GB...Dave

A good example of how people in Australia are being ripped off, this is $160 USD, from Aussie websites it's either $493.00 or $599.00 AUD. Cheaper from the US even with postage and the exchange rate. It's the Artesania Latina Amsterdam tugboat.
