Good evening Skyfire

Thanks for the invitation

I am currently in the process of applying the first layer of planks re:issue 11, but am awaiting delivery of planking clamps before proceeding any further, so most of my information, at this point in time, will be a little outdated.

Since commencing this project approximately 3mths ago, I have been following the Australian, Brit sh and German websites with much interest,
with the intention of building the RC version.

As yet, I have been unable to determine if I will be able to obtain all issues necessary to complete the Bismark and secondly what success, if any, have yourself, or others, had at modifying the Bismarck, with the propulsion systems described on these sites.

Any assistance in these matters would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Stephen

A good source of issues is ebay. I have modified my hull for 3 shaft operation, which was fairly easy to do, (just need to do it before planking starts). You willl also need to drill out the resin part D for 3 motor operation, (not as easy I found).

Split your post off and made it into a build diary for you hemlock037. Smiley

Appreciate the information, have had little difficulty with the assembly to date, however, as the attached photos indicate construction is still in its embryonic stages.
Clamps have finally arrived and am keen to resume planking.
Apologies if you have already covered this topic but what mods did you make to the keel plates/ribs to accommodate 3 motors?

Regards

Most of the rib at the rear will need to be cutaway back level with frame 43A, well thats what I ended up doing. The hull gets a lot stronger once the hull planking is on and is very solid even with most of that rib missing. Smiley

Also Frame 43A will have to be drilled out, along with resin Part D.

More information in the thread below. A very good read when it comes to the r/c stage of Bismarck.

R/C parts from Markus on the UK forum, pay via paypal, bought my prop shafts, propellors and couplings from him.

Back from Scotland, parts up to 135 have arrived. Garage in a mess, unable to access model. Shelf with approx 60 die cast (1/18th 1/24th) cars has come away from it's fixture, most cars damaged and lying on work bench..total disaster!!....Dave

Good evening gents :-)
Pleased to hear issues are still arriving, and hope Dave has been able to salvage the majority of his work.
Thanks for the link Skyfire, some great info and pics. Have already attached planks 1-14 (midships) and have decided to proceed with the aft keel mod to accommodate three motors. Fantastic to see the model navigating it's way round the lake under it's own "steam"
Apologies for the short notice, but Hubertus Model Boat Club (in Sydney) are hosting a Model Boat Show (followed by a Hot Rod Twilight Show) this weekend, 13th-14th March, from 10am-5pm on Sat, and 10am-4pm on Sun, at Hubertus Country Club, 205 Adams Road, Luddenham.

Regards

Stephen

And a small selection of SOME of the tools I've employed to date. All tools and adhesives obtained locally, except planking clamps, courtesy of Micro-Mark (U.S)
